The Managing Director, Dr. Alphonse Dorcoo opened the 2013 Farmers’ day tennis tournament to mark the fourth season of the tournament.
In his opening remark, Dr. Dorcoo said that TOR continues to believe in the importance of good health and wellness through physical activity and is committed to partner with the tennis club to promote sport in the community and Ghana in general.
He noted that the tournament in the last three years has helped create a platform for the youth to develop interest in tennis and was happy to see the youth being serious in the sport.
At the tournament, four clubs namely Sakumono, Ghacem, TOR and Tema tennis clubs participated and competed. Ghacem Tennis Club won the tournament.
The clubs played twenty one games in all, with Ghacem winning 14 and losing 7; TOR won 13 placing second, with Tema club winning 11 for the third position and Sakumono winning 4 games for the fourth place.
Ghacem, the ultimate winners were presented with a trophy with tennis accessories while the other clubs took home tennis accessories.
The tournament was sponsored by Sahara Energy Resources and TOR.
