Tema Oil Refinery Ladies Association (TORLA) has officially launched its 10th anniversary on the theme “The Role of the Female Worker in the Success and Sustainability of TOR.”

Mrs. Victoria Ahenkorah, speaking at the launch as the guest speaker and also as the first president of TORLA, commended the ladies for keeping the flare of the association burning and for their contribution in diverse ways to the success of TOR. She said that although times were challenging, the ladies should embrace change since change engenders improvement. “We should see change as a way to helping us develop”, she emphasised.

The 10th anniversary was chaired and launched by Mr. Prince Ofosu-Adjei, the General Manager in charge of Internal Audit at TOR.

The anniversary launch summed up the journey for the ladies to stop, reflect, and to fully understand where they have come from and the way forward. The launch was also laced with an exciting photo slideshow of activities of association in the last ten years.

TORLA traces its root to a 2007 initiative by Mrs. Ahenkorah with backing from some ladies of the company to establish a ladies association at TOR, which among other things is to promote the welfare and interest of the female workers and to also advocate equal opportunities.

The President of TORLA, Belinda Kyei-Nimako was particularly grateful to God for the sustenance of the association through the years and encouraged the ladies to continue to offer input when needed for the growth and sustainability of TOR.

Some General Managers and Managers, as well executives of the two union groups namely PMSU of UNICOF and GTP/CWU of TUC were in attendance to grace the programme.

The main events for the anniversary celebration begin in October 2017.
